Articulated dark and lovely

by J.L

Artist Photographer & Film Maker John Frame

I discovered John Frame this past Easter. I took my mother to Huntington Gardens for a visit and Tea, his exhibit ” Three Fragments of a Lost Tale” was there. Entering that gallery that day was like stepping into another world. His meticulous figurative sculpture and their surroundings are just exquisite.

Each piece is fully articulated, with movable limbs, fingers, jaws, and eyes. They are all characters in his short film (of the same title) and honestly gives you a little bit of a unsetteling but completely fascinated sort of feeling.

For some reason this body of work reminds me a little of City of Lost Children, dark and hopeful.

Do check out his website and watch the full version of his film.
